After packing up and departing the hotel, we arrived at the Visitor's Center for Arches National Park a short distance north. Arches is home to over 2000 naturally-created stone arches plus numerous other geological formations mostly made of various types of sandstone. Many of these are world-famous.

In addition to learning about the park, we obtained the instructions for both kids to earn their Junior Ranger Patches while we hiked short trails to the various sights.

Seeing all these sights and earning Junior Ranger Patches took longer than expected. I figured out that our late departure from Arches was going to shift our arrival in Salt Lake City later than I wanted.

So, to save time, instead of having lunch at the Green River Supercharger like we planned we picked up McDonald's in Moab, drove to the Moab Supercharger so I could eat lunch, then drove north to the Price Supercharger while the kids finished their lunch. I did the math and queried the Tesla navigation to determine we could easily skip a Supercharger.

The 80-mph speed limit allowed us to make up the time. We arrived in Price for a bathroom break and bought a couple smoothies from the nearby Dairy Queen to enjoy.

Conditions: Headwinds offset by drafting behind a fast truck, then traffic

The drive took us through a beautiful valley that had a headwind. I drafted behind a surprisingly but consistently fast tractor-trailer, saving us about 10% of our battery, while still making up time. That drafting ended when we hit Friday traffic in Provo and Salt Lake City.

We arrived at the Red Lion Inn in Salt Lake City, which offers Tesla Destination Charging. They had a great pool, which we enjoyed that evening before dinner. This was our rendezvous with my wife and mother of my children after her week-long conference in Northern Utah.
