We had a comfortable breakfast with our friends Sunday morning,
the packed up, unplugged, and said our goodbyes.
On the way out of the Denver area,
we decided to stop by Dinosaur Ridge.
We heard from another friend who
grew up in Denver
about the fossils and
fossilized footprints that were easy to see
in the hillside
near I-70
west of Denver.
It was fun to see this
especially after the other perspectives
earlier on the trip at
Dinosaur National Park
and
Fossil Butte.

Continuing on I-70 brought us climbing up into the Rockies, but
this time from east to west instead of
south to north.
We were back in forested mountainsides again, a magnificent sight as they built
on the jagged mountain ridges in western Colorado.
The drive was fun, and soon we arrived at Silverthorne.

Conditions: High-altitude mountain roads, some downhill
Although we wanted to spend time in Vail, my wife wanted us to check into
Beaver Creek Lodge first, a member of the Tesla Destination Network.
Several different places to stay in Vail and Beaver Creek were on that Network as well,
but we thought this had the most charm and fit our family best.
Cost to Charge: $0

When we drove to Vail (top picture on page), I didn't bother
logging the charge of the car or the mileage because
we obviously had more than enough range for this little outing to Vail.
In Vail we walked the town, shopped, and found a great place for dinner along Gore Creek.
We had never been to Vail and Beaver Creek before, and it would be fun to come back to ski.
After returning to the Lodge, I enjoyed the pool, then
we all showered and settled in for the night.
